StillHere Privacy Policy

StillHere is a safety check-in app that alerts your emergency contacts if you don't check in on schedule. Your privacy and data security are important to us.

Permissions Used

• Notifications - To remind you when it's time to check in
• Location (optional) - To capture your approximate neighborhood-level location so emergency contacts can know your general area if you miss a check-in. Location tracking is disabled by default and requires your explicit consent. When enabled, you may grant foreground-only or background ("Always Allow") location permission depending on your chosen capture mode.
• Contacts - To let you import emergency contact information from your device (optional)
• Internet - To sync your data and send alerts to your contacts

Data We Collect

• Account information - Email address for authentication and account recovery
• Check-in schedule - Your preferred check-in interval, time, and grace period
• Emergency contacts - Names, email addresses, and phone numbers of people you designate
• Check-in history - Timestamps of when you check in
• Location data (optional) - When you enable location tracking, we collect your device's GPS coordinates and immediately convert them to a 4-character geohash, which represents an approximate neighborhood area of roughly 20 km. Your exact GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude) are never stored or transmitted to our servers. We also perform reverse geocoding on-device to determine your city, region, and country. The data we store consists of: the geohash, city, region, country, and the timestamp of capture.
• Subscription status - Whether you have an active subscription or trial

How We Use Your Data

• To monitor your check-in schedule and detect missed check-ins
• To send alert notifications to your emergency contacts when you miss a check-in
• To include your approximate location (city and region only) in alert notifications sent to your emergency contacts, so they know your general area in an emergency
• To send you reminder notifications before your check-in deadline
• To manage your subscription and trial status

Data Storage

Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase, a cloud platform with enterprise-grade security. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

Third-Party Services

• Google Firebase - Authentication, database, and cloud functions
• Resend - Email delivery for alerts
• Telnyx - SMS delivery for alerts
• Sentry - Error tracking to improve app stability (no personal data collected)
• Apple/Google - In-app purchase processing

Data Sharing

We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Your emergency contact information is only used to send alerts when you miss a check-in.

Location data sharing: When you miss a check-in and location tracking is enabled, your most recent approximate location (city and region only — never exact coordinates) is included in the alert emails and SMS messages sent to your designated emergency contacts. This location data passes through our email delivery provider (Resend) and SMS delivery provider (Telnyx) solely for the purpose of delivering these alerts. These providers do not retain or use your location data for any other purpose.

Data Retention

Your data is retained while your account is active. You can request account deletion at any time, which will remove all your personal data from our systems.

Location data retention: You can configure a location data retention period of 30, 60, or 90 days in the app's Location Settings. Location history older than your chosen retention period is automatically deleted daily. You can also manually delete individual location entries or your entire location history at any time from within the app. If no retention period is set, location data is retained until you manually delete it or delete your account.

Children's Privacy

StillHere is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
